The MEC for Education in KwaZulu-Natal, Peggy Nkonyeni, would like to send her condolences to the families, friends and educators of the learners who were involved in a car accident at Harding this morning, 11 June 2014.
A bakkie carrying learners to school lost control and hit a group of other learners who were also going to school. Eighteen learners were injured and taken by an ambulance to a nearby St Andrews Hospital and fifteen were treated and released. Two learners and the driver of the bakkie were certified dead on the scene.
“Our prayers are with the family of the deceased during this very difficult time. We also want to wish those injured a very speedy recovery,” said the MEC.
