The MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha has expressed her heartfelt condolences to the family of Sport Administrator Mvuzo Mbebe, who passed away last night.

Mbebe was the 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), African Nations Championships (CHAN) Local Organising Committee CEO and former SABC Executive.

“We were saddened to learn about his untimely death after he was admitted to hospital due to cancer complications. Mbebe’s death is an enormous loss not only to his family but to the country as a whole. His abilities as a sport administrator were beyond question. He was a role model to many in his field. The country has indeed been robbed of his exceptional talent and skills,” said Sibhidla Saphetha.

Sibhidla-Saphetha said that the people of South Africa must find comfort in the fact that he left a legacy of which the country was proud.
