Mayiwa was an inspiration to the youth: KZN MEC for Sport and Recreation
The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha has expressed her deepest condolences the family of Senzo Meyiwa, the current Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana captain who died in a shooting last night.
Senzo Meyiwa was a talented player and inspiration to the nation, particularly to the youth. KwaZulu-Natal is proud of having produced such a gifted athlete to the service of the nation. His abilities as a footballer were beyond question. Through his contribution, Bafana Bafana’s performance in the AFCON qualifies has been impressive, keeping a clean sheet for the national team. Indeed, we have been robbed of his exceptional talent.
Meyiwa’s passing comes after the country still mourns tragic death of another sport icon, Mbulaeni Mulaudzi. As we mourn their death, we must find solace in the fact that they both left a legacy that we are all proud of.
