MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube welcomes clean audit for KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs

Auditor-General rewards KZN COGTA with historic clean audit

The KZN MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Nomusa Dube-Ncube has welcomed the Auditor-General’s audit outcomes for the provincial government departments for 2014/2015 which saw her department earning its first ever clean audit.

Dube-Ncube has attributed this outcome to the sterling work of her team of officials. She has credited them for ensuring that Cogta is able to account for each and every cent. “This achievement is a significant milestone in our journey as a department. We have to be at the forefront of proper fiscal management since we oversee municipalities and the institution of traditional leadership. We have to lead by example,” said Dube-Ncube.

“We are serious about transforming the sphere of local government in our province to be one that is responsive to the needs of our communities. Our municipalities and municipal entities received 20 clean audits in 2013/2014 which is a remarkable achievement. We are confident that the Back to Basics programme which we launched earlier this year will result in an even better score,” said Dube-Ncube.

The KZN Cogta received its Clean Audit Award today at a ceremony held at the Premier’s Office in Pietermaritzburg. Dube-Ncube thanked Premier Senzo Mchunu whose leadership and guidance have been a key component that ensured that her department’s books are in order. She also commended the Provincial Auditor-General’s office for its unwavering support to her department.
