KwaZulu-Natal Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, sends condolences to family of electrocuted Mooi-Mpofana ex-Councillor

The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Nomusa Dube-Ncube, has reacted with shock to the tragic death of former Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor at Mooi Mpofana municipality Ken Denysschen who lost his life on the campaign trail ahead of the upcoming by-elections in his municipality.

We learnt with sadness that former Councillor Denysschen was electrocuted yesterday evening while erecting election posters ahead of the upcoming by-elections at Mooi Mpofana and died on the scene. The by-elections, scheduled for 26 November, are to elect a new municipal council following the dissolution of Mooi Mpofana municipality by the provincial government in September 2014.

“Our heartfelt condolences go to the family, constituency and the political party – the DA - of former Mooi Mpofana Councillor Ken Denysschen who served his community and municipality with dedication and commitment.  He died in the cause of duty willing to put himself forward as a servant of the people of Mooi-Mpofana. He will be sorely missed and we wish the family strength during this difficult period in their lives,” said Dube-Ncube.
