KZN COGTA MEC shocked at stabbing of uThukela Deputy Mayor

The MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) has expressed shock at the demise of the Deputy Mayor of uThukela District Municipality councillor Bheki D. Mazibuko who was stabbed to death in Bergville on Friday night.

While details surrounding the Deputy Mayors death are still sketchy at this point, Dube-Ncube, has urged the law enforcement agencies to investigate the circumstances that led to this tragic incident and to take concomitant action including arresting those linked to this incident.

"Our condolences go to the family and constituency of Deputy Mayor Mazibuko whose untimely death is a loss to the uThukela District Municipality.  We also grieve with his political organisation the National Freedom Party (NFP) and wish all involve strength at this difficult period. The death of a councillor who is an elected servant of the people leaves a gaping void in the sphere of local government and this death has robbed us of one more foot soldier in our fight against poverty, inequality and unemployment,” said KZN MEC for COGTA "said KZN MEC for Cogta Nomusa Dube-Ncube.

Uthukela District  Mayor, Dudu Mazibuko is today leading a delegation of councillors and municipal officials to meet the family and offer government support.
