KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu has expressed his deepest and heartfelt condolences to member of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, Honourable Siboniso Duma (MPL) and his family. This follows the death of four members of the Duma family in a vehicle accident that occurred on Tuesday 8 September 2009, on the N2 near Paddock Port Shepstone.
Duma lost his mother, brother and two nieces when their bakkie slammed head-on into a bus between Paddock and Port Shepstone. This accident brought the number of fatalities on KwaZulu-Natal roads to 27 in just five days. Mchunu has expressed his sympathy for the Duma family and loved ones perished on our roads.
“The fatalities on our roads are a cause for concern. I urge motorists to be cautious and more vigilant whilst on the road. The road traffic inspectorate remains on alert. I’ve urged them to show no mercy to transgressors of traffic laws,” said Mchunu.
