MEC Mchunu conveys message of condolences following a fatal accident involving seven learners

The MEC for Education in KwaZulu-Natal, Mr Senzo Mchunu, has conveyed a message of condolence to the family of seven learners who were fatally injured on their way home from school on Tuesday afternoon. It is reported that the six met their untimely death when their school transport lost control and overturned at Bulwer in Sisonke District.

“It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the news of the passing of seven learners following an accident this afternoon. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May their young souls rest in peace. I wish to further plead with all the drivers to be extra cautious on the roads. The carnage we’ve witnessed on our roads recently is a serious indictment upon all of us. No parent should have to endure the pain of losing a loved one as a result of the carnage we seen on our roads,” MEC Senzo Mchunu said.

It is reported that six learners from Donnybrook Primary and one from Blessed Luanda Primary Schools met their untimely death as they were travelling home from school. The car is said to have lost control and overturned, instantly killing seven learners and the driver. Two learners were severely injured and taken to hospital.
