The MEC for Education in KwaZulu-Natal, Senzo Mchunu, would like to convey a message of sympathy and support to the families of three educators who are still missing at Chibide River in Umzinyathi District.
Five people travelling in a light motor vehicle on Saturday 20 October 2012 attempted to cross a bridge during which their vehicle was swept away into the flooded river. Two passengers were able to escape without any injuries.
The three other occupants, Mr Skhakhane an educator from Magogo Primary, Mr Buthelezi and Mr Ngobese who are both educators from Mthashana FET College in Nquthu are presumed drowned even though their bodies have not been recovered as yet.
"Our prayers are with the families of affected educators during this difficult period," said MEC Senzo Mchunu.
