MEC Cyril Xaba conducts strategic meetings with Mooi Mpofana farmers

Mooi Mpofana commercial farmers on tour with KwaZulu-Natal Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Cyril Xaba

In his capacity as the MEC for the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Cyril Xaba spent the rainy weekend conducting strategic meetings with the commercial as well as emerging farmers within the Mooi Mpofana areas.

This two day gathering was aimed at paving the way for better agricultural activities in the Mooi Mpofana area. MEC Xaba was accompanied by experienced and reputable commercial farmers who are members of the Upper Midlands Agricultural Transformation Initiative (UMATI) which is a non-profit organisation established to champion transformation in the agriculture and tourism sector through institutional support, infrastructure developments and education.

To achieve this, it was agreed that involved parties should have a clear strategic relationship in order to form sustainable agriculture in the area.

Furthermore, MEC Xaba together with the farmers visited a number of farms where the intended agricultural transformation was presented to the farm dwellers for better understanding of the process. It was evident at the end of the gathering, that all parties involved were more than eager to make a meaningful contribution to ensure agricultural transformation in the Mooi Mpofana areas.
