MEC Cronje announces new administration for Umsunduzi

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Finance Ms Ina Cronjé officially announced the new Msunduzi municipality administrator to the municipal executive council and the management team at Harry Gwala stadium boardroom in Pietermaritzburg today.

The new administrator Mr Johann Mettler was warmly welcomed by the council, with Municipality Mayor Zanele Hlatshwayo pledging full support and cooperation from the side of the council.

“We are very pleased that this appointment has been welcomed by the mayor and the executive council. The new administrator comes with wide experience and he brings a depth of knowledge to the council as his field of specialisation comprises policy and legislation relating to local government, Strategic planning for local authorities, municipal restructuring with an emphasis on institutional reform relating to water services and electricity, inter-governmental relations and municipal institutional governance and transformation, and related training” said Cronjé

The new administrator said that he is here to change things around.

“People should be able to see the difference in terms of how the city looks. If there is garbage it must be collected, where there are potholes they must be filled, if there is dirt it must be cleaned. There will be few quick wins with the intention of showing residents and communities that the Province is serious about this intervention,” said Mettler.

“We are sure that we will once again make this a ‘city of choice’ and we appeal to business, labour and all the residents of our City to work with us to achieve this goal” said Cronjé
