KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Finance, Ms Ina Cronjé, will take the Provincial Treasury’s Financial Literacy Campaign to Ilembe District on Thursday, 9 December 2010, in a bid to encourage people (in a deep rural area, Ntunjambili) to spend wisely during the festive season and beyond.
The initiative is part of the Provincial Treasury’s campaign to encourage people to spend wisely this festive season and beyond. It also seeks to educate people about their finances and measures to save money. It is of paramount importance that Government (at all levels), Private Sector and Households put more emphasis towards the culture of saving.
The two-pronged campaign will see the department engaging local business community in the morning and later MEC will be addressing residents who will be gathered at the Ntunjambili Community Hall.
Local business and cooperatives will be informed about business opportunities with the provincial government and there will be a detailed presentation on the revamp of the Provincial Suppliers Database.
All members of the media are invited to be part of this initiative as they can also play a vital role in disseminating the message of saving to the public. The event is scheduled as follows:
