KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu condemns the killing of the taxi operator, Zethembe Mhlungu, who died yesterday after being shot by unknown gunmen. Mchunu has urged the police to act swiftly in bringing perpetrators to book.
"I remain particularly perturbed by this sector's volatility. As a matter of principle, the ANC led provincial government believes that working together, we can turn the tide. We want this crucial sector to thrive. In the same vein, we will not tolerate anarchy. The lives of our people are paramount, and no one should be allowed to kill and maim willy-nilly."
