MEC Scott told residents of Dumbe that 2018 is the year of efficient spending, renewal, unity and job creation. She jolted Dumbe young people to grab the chances being offered by the government to ease the pressure of unemployment. She availed her department saying a lot of opportunities and intervention were being made to assist communities.

“I want to say to the people of Ophuzane, the people of Dumbe, this is your future, grab it, use it and by so doing you would have accomplished a better life,” said MEC Scott.

Access to electricity is important not only to industries but to households. I am proud to tell you that eDumbe Local Municipality has increased access to electricity from 50% in 2006 to 71% in 2016,” said MEC Scott.

As part of her roadshow programme, Scott donated four sewing machines to the local Inkululeko Development Project (a group of women who sew church and school uniforms to create employment opportunities for local women).

She also donated furniture stationery and learning resources to Esiphakama Crèche ,  also donated sewing machines uniforms. HoD Simiso Magagula also committed to assist this crèche to have clean running water and provide proper toilets for the little children.

“We will send our engineer to assess the facility and determine what is it that we can do to assist. We will do all in our power to improve the lives of these children. This is our future,” he concluded.
