Mchunu vowed to resolve Folweni taxi disputes following the brutal killing of yet another taxi operator

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu has vowed to find long lasting solutions to the on-going taxi violence in Folweni, south of Durban.

Mchunu’s comment came after he learnt of yet another shooting and killing of a local taxi operator this morning, 8 January 2013.

Mchunu expressed concern at the prevailing situation in this association as more than five operators have been killed in the recent past.

He described the latest killing as unacceptable and a cause for unnecessary unrest in the taxi industry.

Last year Mchunu met with the leadership of the Folweni taxi association, the local transport structures and councilors to uncover the truth behind the killings of taxi operators in the area.
