KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr Willies Mchunu, has expressed his deepest sadness at the news of a toddler who died when a grader rammed into her home and instantly killed her.
Reports revealed that in the early morning of yesterday, 5 February 2013, a grader rammed into a home in Snathing, Pietermaritzburg and instantly killed three year old Wandile Ngcobo.
Mchunu has expressed concern at the incline of similar incidents that have gripped the community in the recent weeks.
“This is becoming a concern for this community where heavy duty vehicles ram into unsuspecting homes leaving catastrophic results. Just two weeks ago a municipal truck slammed into a house at kwaPata leaving two people critically injured.
We would like to appeal to the drivers of these vehicles to ensure that they are in roadworthy conditions before they venture into the community. These vehicles are becoming a hazard in our community. I would like to send my deepest condolences to the Ngcobo family,” said Mchunu.
