KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu and First Lady Cllr Thembeka Mchunu are aiming for Russian investment.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu has held successful meetings with governors of various regions as part of his official visit to Russia. Today he met with Alexander Ovcharov, the Deputy Governor of Sverdlovsk Province.
“Other than agreeing on twinning arrangements between the two provinces, we will institute a technical team with representatives from both provinces. This team will explore areas of co-operation between the two provinces. Importantly, we have agreed that a delegation from Sverdlovsk Province will visit KwaZulu-Natal.”
“Tourism is one sector which we have agreed to focus on as part of our efforts aimed at strengthening trade relations. Other sectors of the economy that have a potential to ensure the integration of the economies of both provinces include agriculture, automotive, renewable energy and maritime.”
“As government, we are exploring opportunities such as marine tourism and we are encourage ventures such as sea cruising in order to attract the docking of even more huge liners which cruise the world oceans. This has the potential of boosting our tourism industry considering that KZN is one of the best tourism destinations in the world. Importantly, the development of the maritime sector forms part of our infrastructure revolution which aims to improve the province’s logistics.”
