KwaZulu-Natal unveils a wine production project that promises to unlock massive economic growth opportunities for the province and create jobs entrepreneurial opportunities for local communities.
The Department of Cooperative Governance & Traditional Affairs has allocated funding to the tune of R19.5 Million for the implementation of the North Coast Vineyards and for the setting up of cooperatives that will benefit the local population .
MEC Nomusa Dube has officially launched the project in the Ilembe District Municipality 15 August 2013.
The primary objectives of the launch are to:
- create awareness of the production across the globe
- create exposure to the potential value add opportunities emanating from the project; entrepreneurship
- present the project as a ‘case-study’ to other municipalities
- highlight tourism potential and offerings in the district
- eventually create a new tourism event on the Ilembe calendar i.e. Annual Wine & Food Festival.
