KwaZulu-Natal Sport and Recreation MEC Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha congratulates Chad le Clos

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha, has congratulated the Olympic gold medalist, Chad le Clos for being named the sports star of the year at the South African Sports Awards last night.

Sibhidla-Saphetha said that the province was proud of Chad’s achievement. Having achieved the greatest award in the field of sport, Chad will inspire other young athletes to work hard and excel in sport. She also congratulated the KZN Indigenous Games Council for winning the Indigenous Games of the Year Award.

Other award recipients who hail from KwaZulu-Natal were boxing legend, Elijah Tap Tap Makhithini, veteran sport administrator, Sam Ramsamy and self-taught golfer Papwa Sewgolum Sewsunker, who received The Steve Tshwete Lifetime Achievement Awards. The MEC said that these awards were a clear indication that KwaZulu-Natal was a home of champions.
