KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) MEC Willies Mchunu commends the police for the swift arrest of two suspects linked to the killing of two African National Congress leaders

KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr Willies Mchunu has commended the swift action by the police in apprehending the two suspects in the South Coast murder. Two branch leaders, under the Hibiscus Municipality were killed while driving on Sunday evening, 9 September 2012 in oShabeni.

The victims were Mr Dumisani Malunga, branch Chairperson and Mr Bheki Chiliza, branch secretary. They were on their way from an African National Congress meeting. Mchunu commended the swift response of the police for apprehending the suspects in no less than 48 hours.

“I would like to commend the police for the prompt action in apprehending the suspects in less than 48 hours. This shows that the police are hard at work and are dealing decisively with cases of this nature. This will further instil confidence by the community in the work of the police. As government we are committed to work with all political parties in the province in campaigning against killings of political party members. We urge political party leaders and the community to cooperate with the police,” said Mchunu.
