TheKwaZulu-Natal Department of Health is aware of the industrial action by employees at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
The department has also noted their concerns and would like to place it on record that they are currently being looked at, processes were already underway to resolve some of them even before the industrial action began.
It should be noted that the Labour Relations Act covers both the employer and the employee's interests. Therefore, workers at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital have opted to exercise their right to picket, which is legal as service delivery at the institution has not been compromised. This is due to the fact that they exercising this right during their breaks from active duty.
