KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance on alert following hailstorms across KwaZulu-Natal

The KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) remains on high alert in the wake of hailstorms that pummelled extensive parts of the province last night and caused damage to property in Pietermaritzburg, Stanger and Ixopo.

“Our disaster management teams are ready to intervene should the need arise. We are monitoring the weather situation in the entire province closely and we will act swiftly when called upon to do so,” said KZN MEC for Cogta Nomusa Dube-Ncube.

The KZN Cogta has also expressed sympathy with all residents of the province’s municipalities who lost their loved ones and whose property was damaged in last night’s hailstorm. We are consolidating data about the full impact across the province. The department is constantly improving its response time to emergencies arising from natural disasters in KZN.
