The cabinet of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) visited schools throughout the province to ensure that the learners and teachers are ready to re-open schools on a positive note. The MEC’s were deployed according their District.
As the champion of uMzinyathi District, the Honourable MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Mr Cyril Xaba accompanied by some members of the Kwa-Zulu Natal legislature and His Worship F.J Sikhakhane, the Mayor of uMsinga, visited schools under uMzinyathi District to oversee the re-opening of schools in the region.
The first visit took place at Impi Kayizekanye High School which has been closed down by the community and members of the school governing body because of allegations of financial irregularities.
The community were afforded an opportunity to raise their plights in relations to the problems engulfing schools around the uMzinyathi District. Issues raised by the community included the lack of school desks and poor management of schools finances. MEC Xaba promised that their problems will be addressed at the provincial cabinet.
The MEC also visited eMahlokohloko High school and Cabangokuhle High school as part of the oversight in the area of Umzinyathi. The MEC was accompanied by the KZN MPLS’s Mrs Bongi Sithole-Moloi and Mr Fatima Nahara and Senior Government Officials from the District and the province.
