The Honourable MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development in KwaZulu-Natal, Mr Cyril Xaba, together with the Honourable Mayor of Harry Gwala District Municipality, Cllr Mluleki Ndobe and Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality Honourable Mayor, Cllr Zamokwakhe Nxumalo, hosted a successful summit under the theme"Commercialisation of Agriculture" which took place in Ixopo.
The summit provided the platform for emerging and small-scale farmers and well established commercial farmers to put their heads together in order to address the challenges that are facing the agricultural sector in the district.
MEC Xaba presented a paperwhich outlined the plans in which the Province plans to commercialise agriculture and assist small-scale farmers to reach their full potential.
The summit was attended by local tribal authorities, communal farmers and commercial farmers including private and public financial institutions.
