On 25 September 2013, the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) government met with the Board of McCord Hospital to discuss matters related to the take over of the McCord Hospital by the KZN provincial government.
The KZN provincial government was represented by the MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo and MEC for Finance, Ms Ina Cronje´ while the Board of McCord Hospital was led by its Chairman, Professor Paulus Zulu.
The meeting jointly resolved as follows:

That a joint technical team with representatives from government and McCord Hospital be established to work on the technical and legal details related to the finalisation of the process of the takeover of McCord Hospital by the provincial government and the transfer of staff. The technical and legal teams have been appointed and commenced with their work on 25 September 2013.

That an independent valuer agreeable to both parties be appointed to value the McCord Hospital complex so as to facilitate a 100 percent takeover of the hospital by the provincial government.
- That both the KZN provincial government and the Board of McCord Hospital will work very hard to ensure an outcome that will be in the best interest of all concerned, including the employees of McCord Hospital.
