Candidates contesting municipal by-elections on 26 October 2022

One (1) municipal ward by-election will take place in Eastern Cape on Wednesday, 26 October 2022.
 
The by-election will be contested by four (4) candidates from four (4) political parties.

Eastern Cape: 

Ward 07 in the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality – EC157 will be contested by Siphokazi Madyum of the African National Congress (ANC), Lockington Nyusile Majokweni of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF); Sandile Bimbi of the Independent South African National Civic Organisation ( ISANCO) and Siphulaphule Gqobo of the United Democratic Movement (UDM). 
 
The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the councillor’s death. The voter turnout for this ward in the 2021 municipal elections was 51,27% and the ANC candidate won the ward with 57,06% of valid votes.
