During the by-elections contested on 28 February 2024 in Govan Mbeki Municipality, the African National Congress (ANC) retained its seat.
The new ANC councillor is:
Mzikayise Patrick Duma, in Ward 4 in Govan Mbeki Municipality, MP307, Mpumalanga. The party retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with 50,84% of the total votes cast, compared to 44,04% during the 2021 Municipal Elections. Voter turnout was 41,87%.
