Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli engages religious leaders on social cohesion and moral regeneration

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli met with religious leaders from across the province during the Premier’s Breakfast with Religious Leaders, held at the uMfolozi Casino Hotel on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

The engagement focused on matters of social cohesion, moral regeneration, peace-building and the role of faith-based leaders in addressing the social challenges affecting communities across KwaZulu-Natal.

The Breakfast with Religious Leaders provided an important platform for open discussion on the scourges confronting the province, including crime, gender-based violence, substance abuse, intolerance and social instability. The engagement also highlighted the need for stronger partnerships between government and the religious sector in building safer, more united and morally grounded communities.

During the programme, Premier Ntuli acknowledged the significant role played by religious leaders during some of the province’s most difficult periods, including political violence, floods, disease outbreaks and other crises that affected communities in previous years.

He thanked faith leaders for their continued prayers, guidance and support, noting that their spiritual leadership continues to strengthen and unite the leadership of the Provincial Government.

Premier Ntuli also welcomed the newly inducted members of the District Religious Forum and wished them well in carrying out their responsibilities. He encouraged them to continue working towards peace, unity, tolerance and moral renewal across all districts of KwaZulu-Natal.

The engagement reaffirmed the Provincial Government’s commitment to working closely with faith-based organisations as strategic partners in promoting social cohesion, restoring moral values and building a province rooted in compassion, respect and shared responsibility.
