Gauteng Health on end of Medical Emergency Services strike

The Gauteng Emergency Medical Services strike which began on Monday, 13 October has ended.

This follows an agreement that was reached this afternoon between management of the Gauteng Department of Health and organised labour. The parties agreed that employees will report back to work immediately.

The department also obtained an urgent court interdict from the Labour Court this afternoon, barring employees that are on strike from directly or indirectly threatening, assaulting, intimidating or committing any criminal acts

“The department is happy that the strike is finally over and emergency personnel can continue to render healthcare services to the citizens of Gauteng,” said Department Spokesperson Prince Hamnca.
