Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment on extension of nominations for the Interim Industry Advisory Committee on Waste Tyre Regulations, 2017

The Waste Management Bureau hereby extends the application of the Government Notice calling for nominations of suitable persons to be appointed as members of the Interim Industry Advisory Committee (Interim IAC), as published in Government Gazette No. 54907 of Government Notice R.7636 on 26 June 2026.

The call is for the nomination of suitable members to serve in the Interim IAC to advise on governance and operational matters pertaining to the management of waste tyres, until a new Industry Waste Tyre Management Plan is approved, in terms of section 28 or section 29 of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008).

The purpose of the extension of the call for nominations is that the Department received very few responses to the initial call for nominations, which are insufficient for the establishment of the Interim IAC.

Members of the public are therefore notified that the deadline for submitting written nominations of suitable persons to be appointed to serve as members of the Interim IAC has been extended to 30 calendar days following the publication of this Notice in the Government Gazette.

Written nominations may be submitted to the addresses and in accordance with the requirements specified in the extended Government Notice, originally published in Government Gazette No. 54907, Government Notice R.7636, on 26 June 2026. Members of the public who have already submitted their written nominations do not have to resubmit.

For a copy of the initial call for nominations and/or the extension Notice published in the Government Gazette, and for any other enquiry in connection with this media statement, kindly contact Mr D Vukela via email: Dvukela@dffe.gov.za or Cell: 076 178 9263.

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (Act No. 4 of 2013).

Comments received, and responses thereto, will be included in the comments and response report, which may be made available to the public. If a commenting party has any objection to their name, or the name of the represented company or organisation, being made publicly available in any comments and responses report, such objection should be highlighted as part of the comments submitted.
