Environmental Affairs wishes Gift of the Givers well for 23rd anniversary

Message of support to Gift of the Givers on the occasion of their 23rd anniversary

The Department of Environmental Affairs acknowledges and congratulates the Gift of the Givers humanitarian and disaster relief organisation on the occasion of their 23rd anniversary.

We honour our association with an organisation that has made an incalculable contribution to the upliftment of the under-privileged: not just in South Africa but around the world.

Whether implementing feeding schemes in impoverished communities or aiding victims of natural disasters and conflict in far-flung regions: the premise upon which this organization was founded in 1992 by Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, a humanitarian and patriot - remains an inspiration for all who cherish the notion of a universal brotherhood.

Outside of its extensive relief programmes in South Africa, Gift of the Givers provides aid to 40 different countries around the globe. Its humanitarian services know no boundaries of race, colour, or creed.

Their personnel are South Africa's brand ambassadors abroad: providing highly skilled medical personnel to those most in need.

This government led by the African National Congress (ANC) remain proud to count in our ranks a group of men and women who embody the cause that is common to us all: Working together to Move South Africa forward to a non-racist, non-sexist, better country.

We know that the renown they enjoy today would not be so without the support of the many South Africans who continue to pave the way for their work-and in this we thank our fellow South Africans too.

Twenty-one years into democracy, South Africa continues to face challenges that are the legacy of centuries of discrimination and deprivation of the majority.

But we have much to be proud of: we have come a long way.

As we strive to create a Better Life for All- we count on the support of our trusted partners, Gift of the Givers.
