Municipal ward by-election will take place in Mantsopa Municipality, in the Free State province on Wednesday, 17 January 2024. The by-election will be contested by four (4) candidates from four (4) political parties.
Free State
• Ward 07 in the Mantsopa Municipality – FS196, will be contested by the following candidates. 1. Motumi David Madonsela of the African National Congress (ANC); 2. Leon Nicolas Van Wyk of the Democratic Alliance (DA), 3. Koba Magriet Van Wyk of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), and 4. Mamajemane Arcelia Sekolanyane of the Truth and Solidarity Movement (TSM).
The ward was previously represented by the DA and became vacant as a result of the councilor’s resignation. The voter turnout for this ward in the 2021 Municipal Elections was 46,95%.
