The class of 2011 matriculants certificates are ready to be collected

The Grade 12 class of 2011 can now collect their matric certificates from schools where they wrote their examination. The department received certificates from Umalusi at the end of May and embarked on a thorough and vigorous exercise to ensure that all learners receive their certificates.

After the department received the certificates, all the certificates were scanned for control purposes. On completion of the scanning process, a scanning report was printed and issued to all 12 districts. Both the schedule from Umalusi and the scanning report were compared to ensure that all certificates are received and accounted for and all certificates were then inserted into labelled envelopes for each school.

“Withholding of a matric certificate of candidates for reasons such as outstanding school books and school fees is illegal and principals must refrain from such a practice. Learners who experience such treatment from principals must report the matter to the Department,” said the Head of Department, Dr Nkosinathi Sishi.
