The Province of KwaZulu-Natal is experiencing rainy weather and KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr Willies Mchunu has warned motorists to practice caution when driving.
“I urge all motorists to drive with caution by keeping a safe following distance and being visible by turning their head lights on. There have been reports of snow in some parts of the province causing the roads to be slippery. The weather is likely to persist throughout the week,” said Mchunu.
In a separate incident, preliminary reports revealed that three people died today (25 July 2011) when a truck collided head on with a minibus between Wombane and Gingindlovu on the N2.
It is alleged that two other occupants were critically injured, ten sustained minor injuries and were taken to Eshowe Hospital.
Mchunu sends his condolence to the families of the victims who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the people in hospital.
