Acting Premier applauds EMS for abandoned newly born baby’s survival

The prompt response of the Emergency Medical Services has given the newly born baby who was abandoned with an umbilical cord still attached in Klerksdorp a second chance at life, North West Acting Premier, Raymond Elisha said on Thursday afternoon.

“We condemn the abandonment of the child and call on the baby’s mother to come forward to take responsibility for her son alternatively we appeal to members of the public with information that might assist police in their investigation to approach authorities.” stressed Acting Premier Elisha after visiting the child at the Klerksdorp Provincial Hospital.

Acting Premier Elisha commended residents of Sun City section in Jouberton who summoned the EMS after discovering the abandoned baby.

“Their actions saved the life of the newly born child,” said the Acting Premier. Elisha appealed to young girls and women who are traumatised by pregnancy to seek professional counselling and help to avoid putting their lives and those of their unborn babies at risk.
