Tighter measures to curb road accidents in budget speech

Every year each government department puts forward their plan of the budget for that year with the hope of furthering its mandate and delivering efficient and effective services to the people it serves.

This year is no exception as the MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr Willies Mchunu will on Thursday, 31 May 2012 outline how both his departments plan to use the given budget.

Under the Department of Transport, he will outline the ways of spreading infrastructure development particularly in the rural areas and ways to create employment opportunities. He will also outline ways to curb deaths on our roads under this year's theme "Deepening activism against road carnages".

Later he will also deliver his budget speech for the Department of Community Safety and Liaison where he will explain his plans to fight crime and anti-police killing campaign under the theme "Deepening people's action against crime".
