The KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Dr Zweli Mkhize will on Tuesday, 1 December 2009, deliver a keynote address during the World AIDS Day celebrations at uMgungundlovu District.
The premier will join uMgungundlovu District Mayor, senior principals of various provincial departments and all relevant stakeholders in celebrating the World AIDS Day. This international event is celebrated in a different way this year as it will ensure that all relevant stakeholders of the district are enrolled into the Premiers Flagship Project, which is in line with Presidency's War on Poverty campaign, as the deliverables are more or less the same. Both seek to address issues at a household level.
UMgungundlovu District has a population of 1 001 890 with 80% to 90% of indigent people, spread in seven local municipalities, with most people being in Umsunduzi municipality.
