Premier to officiate at National Golden Games closing ceremony

KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Dr Zweli Mkhize and MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Mrs Weziwe Thusi, will tomorrow officiate at the National Golden Games currently underway at Richards Bay, on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast.

Participants at the games are senior citizens over the age of 60 drawn from all provinces throughout the country.The games are aimed at encouraging elder people to lead healthy lifestyles, also dubbed active ageing and assist in creating fun-filled moments.

Participants compete in different sport codes such as soccer, long and short distance running, juskei, duck walk etc. Participants will compete in the finals that will determine which province will emerge as a winner.

The event is organised jointly by national Departments of Sport and Recreation, Social Development and the provincial Department of Sport and Recreation.
