Official opening of Bambanani High School in Pongola worth over R12,8 Million

MEC for Education Mr Senzo Mchunu will on Saturday officially open Bambanani High School in Pongola in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The school was demolished in 2009 after the school infrastructure was found to be in a dilapidated state and had to be reconstructed. It now boasts brand new facilities with a price tag of over R12,8 million. The new school building has 12 classrooms (nine brand new classrooms and three renovated from pre-existing structure), a computer laboratory, a multi-purpose centre, hospitality lab, a staff room, science laboratory, a library and administration block which consists of offices, a conference room and a store room.

Fourteen new toilets were constructed for learners. The school has an enrolment of 666 learners and is now able to offer exciting and unique subjects such as Computer Application Technology, Hospitality Studies and Civil Technology which have an impact in the development of scarce and practical skills.
