Multicultural groups to parade in boost for 2010 Soccer World Cup

As part of community mobilisation and an attempt to raise awareness about the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament within communities, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Arts and Culture will be hosting a colourful, multi-cultural Street Carnival in Esikhawini, on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast.

The parade, which will include multicultural groups, will commence at midday and will end up at Esikhawini College Stadium, where a number of local artists will showcase their talent. The parading groups will include Sothos, Indians, Portuguese, Zulus and Xhosas. This will be followed by entertainment by professional artists (Thembisile Ntaka, Thamindo, Shon G and DJs Bongs, Amen and Rice), after which the spectators will watch the final match live on big screens.

Also gracing the occasion will be the MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Mrs Weziwe Thusi (who will deliver a keynote address) and local leadership.
