Media invite: Queen Nolonolo (King Zwelithini's grandmother) to be honoured

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Zweli Mkhize, will honour the grandmother of the reigning King at an event where two clinics in Nongoma will be named after her on Tuesday, 12 April 2011.

The function which will be attended by His Majesty King Zwelithini ka Bhekuzulu Zulu, the MECs for Health and Social Development, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo and Meshack Radebe (respectively) will be held at Falaza Sports Grounds on Tuesday, 12 April 2011 at 09h00.

Queen Nolonolo was one of King Bhekuzulu Nyangayezizwe kaSolomon’s wives who worked at the local (Benedictine) hospital as a nurse. The Premier will open and name two clinics (a Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission at the Hospital and a Primary Healthcare Clinic nearby) after the Queen in honour of her contribution to the delivery of healthcare to the rural community of Nongoma in her era.

Journalists are invited to the event and transport has been arranged to take them to Nongoma leaving from Durban Playhouse on Tuesday at 06h00.
