The community of Hlathikhulu, near Estcourt, in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands, will benefit from a multi-million sports complex to be built in the area soon. KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Mrs WG Thusi, will officiate at a sod-turning ceremony, marking the resumption of the project.
The facility will cost R2,5 million and is part of government’s programs to develop rural areas and create jobs. The complex will comprise a field catering for netball, volleyball, basketball, change rooms, public ablution facilities and palisade fencing. This, apart from supporting sports development initiatives, will create more than 50 temporary and two permanent job opportunities among young people in particular.
