The Kwazulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr Willies Mchunu will tomorrow, 27 January 2011 be opening Umkhomazi River Bridge which falls under Impendle Local Municipality.
The bridge has been constructed to provide safe access over the Umkhomazi River for pedestrians and motorists and to prevent further drowning of scholars. The construction of the Umkhomazi Bridge has seen people and scholars gaining access to schools, clinics and churches.

On Friday, 28 January 2011 MEC Mchunu will officiate sod-turning of Eludimbi Road and Bridge in Ladysmith.
This project comprises of 5.0 kilometres of gravel road and the construction of a bridge over the Indaka River which will link several schools in the Indaka area and also serve the Mandleni and Mlambo Clinics.
