The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Willies Mchunu will launch the festive season road safety campaign on Sunday, 5 December 2010 in Umlazi. KwaZulu-Natal has experienced an increase in the number of fatalities on our roads during the past few months. The campaign is aimed at curbing road accidents especially since the festive season has begun. The MEC is expected to outline a plan on how law enforcement will be tightened throughout the province. A multi disciplinary road block will be conducted prior to the event.
“Road Safety touches all of us; it is time for every road user to acknowledge that the violation of road laws is a huge offence. Enforcement officers will work resolutely to catch all traffic offenders. I urge all road users to exercise care and patience on the road,” said Mchunu.
