MEC Mchunu to address faction fights within Nombeni Traditional Council

On Tuesday, 22 November the Department of Community Safety and Liaison led by MEC Willies Mchunu, will be bringing Operation Hlasela to the community of
Emankenganeni under the Mombeni Tribal Authority under Inkosi Biyela.

Over the past year, this community experienced faction fights between the Ncanana and Mthethwa families. This resulted in the fights spreading to the neighbouring traditional council which is why during the initial meeting in which MEC Mchunu facilitated a dialogue in the affected areas; Inkosi Zulu and Mhlongo were present.

Following that meeting additional police personnel were deployed in the area to ensure stability. Recently, the community has experienced service delivery protests, and Inkosi Biyela was accused of delaying development.

The next meeting at the area will be in a form of introducing Operation Hlasela so that this community can be assisted in promoting peace and democratic co-existence by targeting all criminal and violent elements as well as addressing their causes. Other stakeholders such as SASSA have been invited to address other concerns raised during service delivery protests.

The event is planned as follows:
Date: 22 November 2011
Venue: Hhayinyama Sports field (Emankenganeni traditional location, Ward 6,
Umlalazi Municipality)
Time: 09h00 ekuseni
