The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, wishes to invite editors, journalists and reporters to a media briefing on a programme to improve health care delivery in KwaZulu-Natal and to introduce the newly appointed head of department.
Following his budget vote presentation and the adoption of a programme of action to transform the health sector; the MEC would address the media on the government plan to improve health delivery in KwaZulu-Natal. He will touch on key areas of focus during the 2009/10 financial and lay out a programme against which his tenure will be measured and gauged in five years time. The key measure areas that he will touch on are, amongst others:
* improving maternal and child health care services
* HIV, TB and Aids management and treatment in the province
* readiness for FIFA World Cup in 2010
* implementation of the 10-point plan
* addressing endemic problems in the department including capacity problems
(leadership and financial management) and
* financial turn-around plan.
Accompanying him will be the newly appointed head of department.
