MEC for Health to address Traditional Health Practitioners on Saturday, 27 March 2010 in Durban

The MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, will address a meeting of Traditional Health Practitioners to be held at Curries Fountain Stadium on Saturday, 27 March 2010.

The meeting was convened by the Traditional Health Practitioners' Organisation to discuss ways of improving working relations between the traditional practitioners and government. The Department of Health has long standing relations with the Traditional Health Practitioners dating back to the time when the current Premier was MEC for Health.

Government’s approach is harmonising these relations as a significant number of people still believe and attend traditional practices as their primary point of call when they fall ill.

Amongst the guests speakers will be the Mayor of eThekwini and the United States Representative (US Consul-General), Honourable O Mlaba and Miss Jill Derderain.

Journalists are invited to the event to be held as follows:

Date: 27 March 2010 (Saturday)
Time: 9h00 (starting with a visit to the uMkhumbane Clinic led by the Acting HoD)
Venue: Curries Fountain, Durban.

Photo and interview opportunities will be available.
