The MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, will tomorrow present the first quarter service delivery report to the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature.
Journalists are invited as the MEC presents the report at the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature at 11h45 on Thursday, 9 June 2011.
The report will provide progress on the delivery of programmes announced during the Budget Policy Statement in April and will focus on the following areas:
- National Nursing Summit: a groundbreaking meeting of nurses to discuss issues around their profession and that came out with clear commitments to improve the image of the profession and the delivery of healthcare services.
- Progress on recruitment of nurses and filling of vacant posts: where there has been great progress in the appointment of a large number of nursing assistants and registered nurses since January 2011
- Update on the fight against corruption and misconduct: there has been a number of suspensions and senior managers are appearing in various courts for acts of corruption amounting to millions of rands of public funds.
- Progress on “Make me look like a hospital” project: report on progress made in improving service delivery in key major hospitals in the province.
