MEC Dhlomo to present the first quarter report to the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Legislature

The MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, will tomorrow present the first quarter service delivery report to the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature.

Journalists are invited as the MEC presents the report at the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature at 11h45 on Thursday, 9 June 2011.

The report will provide progress on the delivery of programmes announced during the Budget Policy Statement in April and will focus on the following areas:

  • Progress on recruitment of nurses and filling of vacant posts: where there has been great progress in the appointment of a large number of nursing assistants and registered nurses since January 2011
  • Update on the fight against corruption and misconduct: there has been a number of suspensions and senior managers are appearing in various courts for acts of corruption amounting to millions of rands of public funds.
  • Progress on “Make me look like a hospital” project: report on progress made in improving service delivery in key major hospitals in the province.
