Today, the MEC for Health Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo will encourage scholars to study towards health related professions and also congratulate those who have successfully been selected to study towards nursing and medicine.
Journalists are invited to be part of the visit which will take place today, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 at 14h00 in Esigodini Hall in Mkhambathini (near a police station). Here the MEC will also meet the class of 2011, grade 12.
Last year MEC Dhlomo visited the area of Mkhambathini (Mid-Illovo) to meet with matriculates and encourage them to do well in their matric examinations. He also urged them to consider health related professions as professions of choice so that they can serve their community. The MEC is going back to the area to meet those who have been successfully selected for nurse training as well join the school of Madlanyoka as they bid farewell to their former scholar, Mr Manqoba Fana Mngadi (19), who will be leaving for Cuba to study medicine.
Mr Mngadi completed his matric in 2010 at Madlanyoka High School and was selected to do his medical studies through the South Africa – Cuba Joint Academic Programme. His father passed away some time ago and is survived by his unemployed mother. The family of seven lives through R800 a month salary which the mother gets from the Zibambeleni Expanded Public Works Programme (Vukuzenzele road cleaning project).
