MEC Dhlomo to attend the funeral of the emergency personel who was killed on duty

The MEC for Health in KwaZulu-Natal will lead the department delegation and Emergency Medical and Rescue Service (EMRS) personnel who will pay their last respects to the fallen hero of the poor people of KwaZulu-Natal.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, 21 May 2011 at 08h30 at the Wembezi (Escourt) Anglican Church.

The MEC says that his attendance will be to convey a message to the family and friends that "although no words can really help to ease the loss they bear and to let them know that they are very close in every thought and prayer".

He further said it will be a show of support to all EMRS personnel and that their government cares and supports them every time they go out to help the sick and frail.

On a message to the family the MEC described Mr Mazibuko’s contribution to the service as "having restored faith in faith itself".

Mr Mazibuko died last Saturday when he was called to assist his crew mates at an incident in Rosedale (Escourt) where a perpetrator had stabbed his own parents.  On arrival at the scene and whilst assessing one of the patients he was attacked and stabbed several times and died instantly.  He is survived by a wife, children (5) and a 70 year old mother.

Journalists are invited to attend the funeral and for more details please contact:
